- AJ Plug -
After the release of her debut album 'Let Go Or Be Dragged' (2014), her career went like a rocket. In October 2016 she released her second album 'Chew Chew Chew' which was once again highly praised. The career of the singer from Katwijk aan Zee was gaining momentum and the second CD by the tough blonde also received only jubilant reviews. Music Maker wrote: “She wrote all twelve songs on the album herself and they are all top notch especially because she masters various styles in the blues genre. Then it rocks again, then you hear another tear-jerking ballad. Just a top record!” (5 stars). Partly due to all the positive reactions, she even ended up on the cover of the American blues magazine 'Blues-E-News', in the good company of, among others, Beth Hart, Susan Tedeschi and Shemekia Copeland, who are chosen by the public as leading ladies in the Blues.
At the beginning of May 2018, she and her partner/guitarist Klaas Kuijt ended up in an old dilapidated farm in Grolloo. With minimal equipment but with a lot of atmosphere, the acoustic album 'Barefoot The Grolloo Takes' was recorded and released in June 2018.
Accompanied by a bunch of excellent musicians such as the talented guitarist Guy Smeets, multiple keyboards player Roel Spanjers and rhythm guitarist Klaas Kuijt, AJ Plug shows soul, you feel the blues, and you are drawn into her sensitive songs. A fantastic album, recorded in a beautiful ambiance, from which you can feel the blues roots from Grolloo, with a Katwijk edge…
Barefoot The Grolloo Takes. Without fuss, pure and honest. The sound is beautiful, clear and sounds analog.
